Ridgewell determined to win place back at Villa

Aston Villa central defender Liam Ridgewell has dismissed speculation linking him with a loan move to Birmingham and has vowed to win back his first-team spot.

Ridgewell was a regular member of Martin O' Neill's side during the first half of the campaign after breaking into the senior side last season.

But he is now down the pecking order behind first-choice pairing Olof Mellberg and Gary Cahill, while Martin Laursen is also available after injury.
