Everton re-sign defender Pistone

Everton have been forced to back-pedal and strike a compromise with Italian defender Alessandro Pistone after a frustrating summer in the transfer market.

At the end of last season, when Pistone had produced the best form of his Goodison Park career to help the club win a place in the Champions League, the 29-year-old was only offered a new one-year contract, with his original deal running out last month.
