'Owen will break my record', Shearer

Alan Shearer is backing Michael Owen to overtake him and go on to become England's greatest goalscorer.

Owen will go into Wednesday's World Cup qualifier with Azerbaijan at St James' Park with 29 international goals - just one less than his former strike partner Shearer.

A double against Azerbaijan, beaten 8-0 by Poland on Saturday, will move Owen into outright fourth position in the all-time list.
