U.S. women to play France

CHICAGO -- The post-Mia Hamm era for U.S. women's soccer will begin in the Algarve Cup.

The United States will play France on March 9 in southern Portugal in the team's first game since the retirement last year of longtime stars Hamm, Julie Foudy and Joy Fawcett.

The U.S. team will also play Finland on March 11 and Denmark on March 13. If the United States finishes first in Group B, it will play the top team from Group A in the championship game March 15. Group A consists ...
