Zavarzin to head Russian Premiership

MOSCOW, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Dynamo Moscow boss Yuri Zavarzin was elected new president of the Russian Professional Football League (RPFL) on Tuesday.

Zavarzin, who will preside over the RPFL matters for the following 12 months, replaces CSKA Moscow president Yevgeny Giner, whose one-year contract exprired this month.

The RPFL, which consists of presidents from all 16 premier league clubs, have lobbied to increase Russia's top flight to 18 teams for the 2006 season.
