Americans draw Feb. 9 road opener

Instead of opening in the cold of an Ohio winter, the United States starts the final round of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup after a big Caribbean party -- at Trinidad and Tobago on the day after the island nation caps its Carnival celebration.

The Americans, trying to reach their fifth consecutive World Cup, begin at Trinidad on Feb. 9 -- Ash Wednesday -- then play their second game at Mexico in March. The U.S. team closes the 10-game round in October at home against Panama.
