ANAHEIM, Calif. -- MetroStars midfielder Amado Guevara, who tied for the scoring title, was named Major League's Soccer Most Valuable Player on Thursday.

In his second year in the league, Guevara had 10 goals and 10 assists with the MetroStars and became the fifth scoring champion to win MVP honors in the same season.

New England Revolution forward Pat Noonan also had 30 points, but was not a finalist for the MVP award.
