Gers fine Malcolm for sectarian gaffe

GLASGOW, May 20 (Reuters) - Rangers have fined defender Robert Malcolm £5,000 after the player admitted writing a sectarian comment in a signed autograph for a fan.

Rangers have a traditionally Protestant support and their Glasgow derby with city rivals Celtic, who were founded by Irish Catholic priests, has strong religious connotations.
