Germans forlorn after Euro exits

BERLIN, March 11 (Reuters) - Despite a brave fight from Bayern Munich, Germany are left without a team in Europe and no longer a major force in continental club football.

Bayern, four-times European champions and always the soccer-mad nation's safest best, failed to clear the Real Madrid hurdle on Wednesday and followed out VfB Stuttgart, who had fallen to Chelsea the day before.
