U.S. defender inks three-year deal

LONDON -- U.S. defender Carlos Bocanegra completed a three-year deal with Fulham, joining four other Americans who play regularly in England's Premier League.

Bocanegra was transferred for free from the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer on Tuesday. He is a two-time MLS defender of the year.

The Californian has been one of the top American defenders since joining the national team in 2001. He has four goals in 20 international appearances.
