Former USSF president Ringsdorf dies

CHICAGO -- Former U.S. Soccer Federation president J. Eugene Ringsdorf has died, the federation said. He was 91.

Ringsdorf, who headed the USSF from 1961 to 1963, died Friday and was buried in Baltimore on Monday, according to the federation.

He spent 20 years as an amateur player in Baltimore for Collington SC and Corinthian SC, and was player-coach for Corinthians when the team won the Maryland State Amateur Championship in 1937.
