Russia coach puts future on hold

MOSCOW, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Russia coach Georgy Yartsev has turned down a two-year contract, choosing instead to put his future on hold until after next month's Euro 2004 playoffs against Wales.

'We have asked Georgy Yartsev to remain as national team coach through the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, but he turned it down,' Russian soccer chief Vyacheslav Koloskov told a news conference on Wednesday.
