Russia: Fedotov sparks Spartak

MOSCOW, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Spartak Moscow edged city rivals Torpedo 1-0 in a heated Russian premier league derby on Saturday to give their new coach Vladimir Fedotov a winning start.

Spartak captain Yegor Titov scored in the 16th minute against the run of play and the home side hung on for the rest of the game to secure only their ninth win of the season.

But the struggling former champions remained in 11th place with 31 points from 24 matches.
