McBride sidelined with eye injury

MIAMI, July 24 (Reuters) - U.S. striker Brian McBride will be sidelined for three to five weeks after sustaining an eye injury during the CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal against Brazil on Wednesday.

McBride, 31, required eight stitches after he was cut above his left eye during a collision with Brazilian defender Alex during the 2-1 loss.

A statement from the U.S. Soccer Federation said McBride, 31, had a minimally displaced fracture of the orbital floor of his left eye.
