SAINT-ETIENNE, France -- In Europe, the U.S. soccer team still has a lot to prove.

Back on soccer's world stage after last year's quarterfinal finish in the World Cup, the Americans wasted a first-half lead and lost 2-1 to Turkey on Thursday night in their Confederations Cup opener.
