Chesterfield appoint McFarland

Chesterfield have appointed Roy McFarland as their new manager.

The former Bolton, derby, Bradford and Cambridge manager replaces Dave Rushbury, who resigned before the end of the season.

McFarland had been out of management since April last year when he left Torquay.

Rushbury resigned last month after a run of bad results left the Spireites in relegation trouble, although they secured their Division Two status with a draw on the final day of the season at Blackpool.
