MLS to take World Cup break

NEW YORK -- Major League Soccer will take a two-week break in June during the first round of the World Cup.



There will be three games on the day before the June 12 World Cup opener in Brazil. The season will resume when Vancouver hosts Montreal on June 25, the next-to-last day of group-stage play.



It's similar to the format used for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
