McClaren takes up QPR coaching role

Former England manager Steve McClaren has accepted a position on Harry Redknapp's coaching staff at Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

McClaren was a leading contender to succeed Roberto Martinez as Wigan manager last month, only to be pipped to the post in the race for that position by former Bolton boss Owen Coyle.
