United States surge clear

The United States moved clear in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying group with a 2-0 home triumph over Panama in Seattle.

Jurgen Klinsmann's side opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Fabian Johnson set up Jozy Altidore. Eddie Johnson doubled the lead in the 53rd minute after Geoff Cameron had set him up.

The United States moved two points clear of Costa Rica in the standings as Panama dropped to fifth spot.
