Carpenter expected to miss 9-12 months

TORONTO -- Blue Jays pitcher Chris Carpenter will miss nine to 12 months after having surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday.


The right-hander had tests last week that showed he has a small tear in his labrum. He has been on the disabled list since Aug. 14.

"The worst-case scenario is that he'll be out a year. The best-case scenario would be eight to nine months,'' Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi said.
