Private Emblem wins Albany Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Private Emblem, in his first start since taking the Arkansas Derby four months ago, won the $150,000 Albany Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course.

J's Wild Slew led the field of seven New York-bred 3-year-olds through the first half-mile. Private Practice took over briefly before favored Private Emblem, who rallied from fourth, took command turning for home.
