Wightman stuns top-seeded Jimison in match play

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Tele Wightman, the 64th and last player to make the field for match play, upset top-seeded Isaac Jimison in Wednesday's opening round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links championship.

After finishing 36 holes of stroke play at 2-over 146, Wightman survived a 14-man playoff late Tuesday to advance to match play. Eleven hours later, he was on the tee against Jimison, who won the stroke-play medal with an 11-under 133 at The Orchards Golf Club.
