Wesley Sneijder has said he knew he had to leave Inter Milan but maintained that he always had a good relationship with the Italian club.

Sneijder, 28, joined Galatasaray in January after a contract dispute with Inter, but said he did not blame coach Andrea Stramaccioni for his departure.

The Netherlands international, back in his country's squad after a six-month absence, told Volkskrant: "Stramaccioni had to do what he had to do. He has a great opportunity at Inter.
