Ex-Arles chief sentenced for match-fixing

Former Arles-Avignon sporting director Fabrice Bertone has been handed a suspended 10-month prison sentence for attempting to fix matches in 2009.



Bertone was sentenced by a court in Aix-en-Provence on Tuesday for "attempted corruption" after his appeal was thrown out, according to RMC.

He was also ordered to pay a fine of 8,000 euros (£6,985) and pay a symbolic sum of one euro in compensation to the French Football Federation (FFF).
