Herd ruled out for Socceroos

Aston Villa's Chris Herd has been ruled out of Australia's World Cup qualifier against Oman after injuring his foot in training.

Herd was hoping to make his Socceroos debut at Sydney's ANZ Stadium later this month, but a foot fracture which has sidelined the 23-year-old for five weeks, reared its head again in training, forcing Socceroos coach Holger Osieck to once again overlook the defender.
