Police lose case against Leeds United

West Yorkshire Police has been forced to repay Leeds United around £1 million after it lost its appeal case regarding the costs of policing matches at Elland Road stadium.

The force will pay the amount, which covers three year's worth of policing fees, after the Court of Appeal in London rejected its claim that the club was responsible for paying for policing streets and car parks near the ground. The force was seeking to overturn a previous court ruling.
