Wofford clear of aggravated assault charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A judge dismissed aggravated assault charges against Vanderbilt linebacker Doug Wolford, saying he acted in self-defense during a fight last summer with a Northwestern player.

The fight between Wolford and Braden Jones of Harrisburg, Ill., began in the early hours of July 21 at a fast-food restaurant near the Vanderbilt campus. Jones was in Nashville visiting his brother, Vanderbilt student Loren Jones.
