Former Roma defender Christian Panucci has claimed he was sounded out about a return to the club but said without a serious offer he will remain in his role with the Russian national team.

The 39-year-old, currently working as an assistant to Fabio Capello, spent eight years in the Italian capital as a player. After the Giallorossi sacked Zdenek Zeman on Saturday they placed Aurelio Andreazzoli in temporary charge but continue to look for a permanent replacement.
