Lionel Messi to sign Barca contract

Argentina forward Lionel Messi on Thursday will sign a five-year contract extension with Barcelona, the club announced Tuesday on its website.

The contract will lock Messi in through June 30, 2018. Terms of the deal were not released. His current contract had been signed through June 2016. In the past weeks, teammates Xavi Hernandez and Carlos Puyol have also agreed with Barcelona on contract extensions.
