Chacon gains split decision over Polo

LONDON -- Argentina's Julio Pablo Chacon overcame a knockdown and cuts above and below his right eye Saturday to gain a split decision over Victor Polo and retain his WBO featherweight title.

The champion opened a cut above the challenger's right eye in the second round.

But Polo, a left-hander from Colombia, fought his way back and floored Chacon with a left hand with 37 seconds left of the fourth and blood began to seep from the champion's eyebrow and cheekbone.
