De Guzman earns Netherlands call

Jonathan de Guzman's recent form for Swansea has earned him a call-up to the Netherlands squad for the friendly match against Italy.

De Guzman is joined in Netherlands squad for the first time by Benfica winger Ola John and Ajax defender Daley Blind who have also caught the eye of coach Louis van Gaal but captain Wesley Sneijder is a notable absentee.

Hamburg's Rafael Van der Vaart, John Heitinga of Everton and Arjen Robben of Bayern Munich also miss out on the 23-man squad ...
