Gegic's role in fixing scandal questioned

CREMONA, Italy -- Serbian soccer player Almir Gegic is being questioned in Cremona on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a widespread match-fixing scandal.

The midfielder's hearing is likely to carry over until Friday.

After more than a year on the run, Gegic surrendered Monday.

Gegic was brought to a jail in Cremona, where prosecutor Roberto Di Martino is holding the inquiry. More than 50 people have been arrested so far and over 100 are under investigation.
