Hearts handed extension

Hearts have had the immediate threat of closure lifted after HM Revenue and Customs granted them more time to pay their outstanding tax bill.

The Edinburgh club have been set a new deadline of December 3 to settle debts of £449,692,04 over two payments. The club have also provided HMRC with assurances that future payments would be made in a "timeous manner".
