Dortmund and Schalke ease through

Borussia Dortmund booked their place in the third round of the DFB-Pokal with a 4-1 win at second division VFR Aalen.

Mats Hummels put the Bundesliga champions ahead in the 22nd minute and Marcel Schmelzer made it two ten minutes later. Mario Gotze added a third four minutes after the break and Julian Schieber added to the hosts' misery with a fourth in the 79th minute.

Aalen did finally have something to cheer, but Michael Klauss' 87th-minute effort was mere consolation.
