When I was approaching my 30s, I played for an expatriate team in Lima, Peru, called the Kiteflyers. I believe they are still playing. It was a happy experience and was the last time, for any sustained period, that I played football. When I went back to England after four years to study for a master's degree at Essex University, I decided, at the age of 31, to go in for trials for the university team.
