Metsu steps down from Al Wasl role

Al Wasl manager Bruno Metsu has been forced to step down from his role after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer earlier this month.

Metsu, who led Senegal to the 2002 World Cup quarter-finals, has been hospitalised since October 15, where he has been visited by former Al Wasl boss Diego Maradona.

"Due to his current health condition, Mr Bruno Metsu has requested to be relieved from his duties as head coach of Al Wasl,'' a club statement on their Twitter page read.
