PFA chief wants boot safety controls

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor wants tighter regulations on the safety of boots to be considered at the next meeting of the FA football medical committee.

The call comes after Manchester United's Wayne Rooney suffered a severe gash when caught by a boot during the game against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Taylor told ESPN: "We shall be raising the matter of safety regulations at the next meeting of the football medical committee."
