From the eastern coastline of the Shizuoka Prefecture known for its hot springs, the reputation of a young man known as Tensai flowed.

As a teenager, Shinji Ono captured the imagination of Japan. He would soon go on to win silverware in Europe and appear in three World Cups. His capture, then, by A-League newcomers Western Sydney Wanderers in preference to Michael Ballack is worthy, at the very least, of appreciation.
