Sheedy diagnosed with bowel cancer

Former Everton and Republic of Ireland midfielder Kevin Sheedy has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Sheedy, who works as a coach at Everton's academy, will have surgery later in the week. He joined the club from Liverpool in 1982 and scored 97 goals in 369 games over ten years before moving on to Newcastle and finishing his playing career at Blackpool.
