Southampton announce Davis capture

Rangers and Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis has joined Southampton on a three-year deal, the club announced on Friday evening.

Davis, 27, was able to move as a free agent, after turning down a transfer to the Charles Green newco club following the liquidation of Rangers last month.

Southampton have moved quickly to snap-up the former Aston Villa player, who in 2010 was voted Scottish Players' Player of the Year for his efforts at Ibrox.
