Shinji Kagawa showed a few Manchester United qualities while playing for Japan against Oman on Sunday evening in the opening match of the final round of Asian qualification for Brazil 2014. His loitering on the edge of the area for corners was Scholes-esque, even if his first-half volley was not, while his work-rate and tendency to drop deep to look for the ball reminded of Rooney, and his finishing in the first half would have had Hernandez nodding.
