UEFA Champions League

Referee: Bjorn Kuipers
Well, a breathless finale after a pretty low key match. Real looked comfortable for most of it but they couldn't defend a late free kick when it was delivered with quality. They are still big favourites to go through but Mourinho still won't be happy you feel.
FULL TIME A debut goal for Wernbloom, who joined from AZ Alkmaar, rescues a draw for CSKA Mosscow right at the death, and they just about deserved that in the second half. Ronaldo handed Real the lead in the first half but Jose's side couldn't hold out.
The free kick came in, was nodded across goal and the midfielder volleyed into the net from about seven yards out. There were only 25 seconds left!
GOAL They've done it! An equaliser! Wernbloom!
A last chance for CSKA as Coentrao handles the ball....
Igansevich robs Kaka of the ball as he cut into the area from the right. Good tackle.
An excellent header from Pepe as Oliseh crossed dangerously from the right.
Three minutes added....
Into the final minute and CSKA looking a little forlorn.
Another hoofed clearance from Arbeloa as Doumbia wins a flick on.
The hint of an opening for Doumbia but an excellent tackle from Arbeloa stops his progress into the box.
CSKA's Loenid Slutsky rocks backwards and forward in his chair, perhaps a review of his side's performance.
Ozil slopes off and Raul Albiol comes on.
Another clear opportunity for Ronaldo as Kaka tries to thread a ball through to Higuain, Berezutsji gets a touch but diverts it into Ronaldo's path and he fires wide from 18 yards with only the keeper to beat.
Prior to the substitution Honda curled a free kick toward Casillas, who punched clear at his near post.
Now the hapless Tosic is replaced by Necid.
Coentrao is carded after sliding in on Oliseh.
Real set up to soak up pressure now and play on the break. CSKA have got to make something happen in the last ten minutes.
Good battling from Honda as Real looked to break. He's sitting very deep in midfield. Not sure why.
Ramos meets Ozil's corner but nods right at Chepchugov. Then Ronaldo has a golden chance to seal the tie but can't squeeze his shot in from a narrow angle as the keeper closes him down. Good goalkeeping.
Callejon trudges off and Kaka is on for Real.
That's better from CSKA - they had six men forward in that last attack.
Ramos is carded for remonstrating when Doumbia caught Coentrao on the ankle with a clumsy tackle. Not like Ramos to complain is it?
Oliseh gets round Coentrao and crosses but the ball can't fall quick enough for Dzagoev to get an overhead kick away and Real clear.
Honda takes the free kick but Casillas is right behind it.
A comedy of errors as Dzagoev falls over, then puts an arm up to trip Alonso, but still gets the free kick.
Aldonin goes off and Keisuke Honda is on, back from a long injury lay-off.
Wernbloom gets a long overdue yellow card - for tugging back Coentrao.
The pitch defeats Ronaldo again as his poor touch trickles the ball out of play near the corner flag.
Musa departs and Oliseh is on in his place.
Ronaldo steadies himself and tries a shot from 35 yards with his left foot but blazes high and wide.
And now CSKA's best chance as Musa gets some space and heads towards the box - he has Doumbia to his left but he opts for the shot and hits it right at a grateful Casillas.
And a half chance from the corner as the ball falls to Aleksei Berezutski but he can't get any purchase on his shot.
Superb run from Doumbia as he slaloms into the box, it looks for a moment like he might get clear but Pepe concedes the corner.
His corner is poor and then when he is returned the ball by Callejon, he loses it. Not been the German's night so far.
Ozil chases down a long ball and wins a corner from Berezutski.
The referee has let a lot of fouls go that would have been given in La Liga. Good to see the game flowing.
Ronaldo mis-hits another shot after Ozil's right wing free kick fell to him.
Chepchugov is out smartly as Higuain looked to latch onto a through ball from Khedira.
A much better pace to the game now - I think Real reckon they can kill the tie tonight.
That should have been 2-0 game over, but Callejon waited a little too long to get his shot away and the massed ranks of red and blue crowded him out.
Comical defending by CSKA as they give the ball away twice on the edge of their own penalty area again - Tosic again at fault. Eventually, Callejon has the opportunity but Berezutski gets back to block his shot.
And now a chance for Callejon, who is fed into the area by Ronaldo but shanks his shot wide when through on Chepchugov. Poor.
Still plenty of red and blue shirts back as Ozil tries to find a way through.
Good, cool defending from Pepe as Tosic got into the area - he then sidestepped away from Dzagoev, who had charged in to close down.
CSKA look like they are operating a little further up the field in this half - surely they have to attack Real now.
Xavi Alonso gets the first card for a foul on Musa.
We begin again...
A slice of pre-match reading should you fancy it - here is the story on John Terry's injury and here is Edinson Cavani threatening to shoot AVB's men down in Naples.
The evening's other Champions League game sees Chelsea travel to Naples to take on Napoli. The Blues will definitely be without John Terry - he's been ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury. Rumours that Cole, Essien and Lampard could also be missing.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for Real in a chilly Moscow
HALF TIME Musa puts in a low cross as CSKA try to grab a leveller before the interval but Casillas claims. Aldorin then blazes over from 30 yards as the whistle goes. Ronaldo's goal separates the teams at the break.
Opta stat: Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 111 goals in 109 games in the league and Champions League since joining Madrid.
Tosic gets up gingerly after a boot from Callejon. That looked borderline dangerous from the Real midfielder.
Wernbloom at the center of another Real bump as he and Ronaldo clash heads jumping for a high ball.
Real stroking the ball around as best they can as the half enters its final stages.
Berezutski nods clear the latest Real corner, as Ozil swung the ball in.
Doumbia gets his head on a ball to the back post from Aldorin but Casillas watches the ball limp harmlessly wide.
Ronaldo's free kick hits the wall, and despite a half hearted shout for handball, CSKA bundle the ball clear.
But as Real break Ronaldo is bodychecked by Ignashevich right on the edge of the box. Guess who is standing over the free kick?
Pepe is almost mugged by Doumbia as Casillas comes charging out for a long ball. The defender almost had him in a headlock...
Real nearly getting themselves into trouble playing it round at the back. Who do think they are, Barcelona?
Maybe CSKA will be forced to push on a little now - surely if they are to stand any chance in this tie they need to take a lead to Madrid?
A hail of black grip clippings are stirred every time the ball hits the turf. Those who have played on artificial pitches before will know exactly the stuff I'm referring to.
That was a tidy finish, Ronaldo struck the bouncing ball perfectly, but the keeper should have done better.
A shame for the keeper, who had done well to that point but Ronaldo makes no mistake as Coentrao's cross is missed by Tosic and he fires home left footed on the half volley.
More danger from the boot of Ronaldo as he puts in another good cross, this time to the near post, and Chepchugov does well to claim it on the bounce.
Ramos gets out of jail after a poor pass, Dzagoev feeds it wide to Musa but his cross looks more like a shot. Whatever it was, it ended up in the crowd.
The corner is cleared and CSKA regroup. They will fancy their chances after this start you feel.
Ronaldo starting to have an influence now as he makes room to deliver a devillish cross that is nodded behind for a corner.
Fair play to Arbeloa for wearing no leggings and a short sleeve shirt to boot. Those years in Liverpool served him well.
Ronaldo very nearly finds a ball over the top for Higuain, who was through, but he overcooked it a touch.
Higuain has been clattered in the head now after Wernbloom beat him in the air for a header. The striker almost got underneath his opponent. Real's players not happy but Wernbloom entitled to go for that.
It's his Champions League debut tonight too. The substitute keeper is only 16.
Superb save! Higuain nearly scored with his first touch as Ronaldo and Khedira combined to set him up. Chepchugov saved the first, then sprung up to tip the follow up effort over. Fanstastic double stop.
Higuain is the man to replace Benzema.
The trainer is signalling that Benzema will have to come off. Not a great start for Real. Freezing weather and a rock hard pitch is always a combination that can throw up a knock or two.
An effort from Benzema as he chests down a Khedira pass and volleys from 25 yards but he's shanked it wide and looks like he is struggling now. Looks like a groin or a thigh.
The referee is letting a lot go early on - Khedira looked to have been clipped by Aldorin there but again play was waved on.
Confident start from CSKA though with Musa and Dzagoev looking lively early on.
It's definitely the pace of the surface that is troubling Real - first touch an issue.
Benzema is taken out after offloading the ball and that should have been a foul. Wernbloom the culprit.
Plenty of Real passes going astray as they struggle to find their range on this bobbly, bouncy surface.
Chance! Excellent work from Schennikov, a good cross and Dzagoev volleys wide from eight yards out. He was leaning back and couldn't hook his foot round it.
Musa is too quick for Coentrao as he charges down the byline. Free kick but no yellow.
Coentrao does well to skip down the left but he can't prevent his cross from floating out for a goal kick.
Now Ronaldo is down after a sliding challenge from Wernbloom. Could easily have been a yellow card.
Ozil has gone down complaining of an elbow in the face from Schennikov. Nothing more than an accidental clash.
Plenty of players wearing leggings. Still looks very odd to me.
They may be a bit chilly but Real's record in this season's competition is impressive. They are unbeaten in their last nine away games in the UCL, won all six of their group games, scoring 19 and conceding just two.
It's fair to say this is a trip that will take Real Madrid about as far out of their comfort zone as they can get - a plastic pitch and the temperature at a brisk minus four. Looks like the Luzhniki Stadium is full to burst as the teams enter the arena...
