Stadium of Light, England

Referee: C Foy

  • 95'

FULL TIME A poor game and a fitting result. Sunderland's tactics made sure it was less than a thriller - they will be happy with a point, Tottenham won't. VDV with their best chance.

  • 94'

Kilgallon gets up very well to head the corner clear....

  • 94'

    Tottenham corner now.

  • 93'

Vuaghan booked for a late tackle and a late chance for Spurs to pump it in the box.

  • 91'

Bale is back on as Spurs give the ball back to Mignolet from the restart...

  • 90'

Bale hobbles off after that Gardner challenge. Three minutes added time...

  • 89'

Fantastic tackle from Gardner after Bale had presented the ball, he was the last man and had to get that right. He did.

  • 88'

A yellow for Assou-Ekotto now as he hauls down Sessegnon.

  • 87'

Larsson is booked for diving as Kaboul came out to block him. Bit harsh that I think - mot much contact but the leg was thrust out.

  • 86'

Do we have a hero on the field?

  • 85'

Brilliant delivery and an excellent clearing header from Kaboul.

  • 84'

McClean is fortunate to win a free kick after he crept down the left. Another chance for Larsson to whip it in.

  • 83'

Finally, Defoe is on, in place of Van der Vaart.

  • 81'

Modric seems fine so the replacement will be made at the next break in play.

  • 80'

More changes, for Sunderland Bardsley is replaced by Kieran Richardson, and for Spurs, Defoe comes on for, well no-one, as Modric is consulted on an injury by Redknapp.

  • 79'

Gardner clatters Modric and gives away a free kick. Defoe about to come on now too.

  • 78'

    Adebayor replaced by Saha.

  • 77'

Sessegnon nearly threads a ball into McClean but Gallas hacks clear. This could go either way.

  • 76'

Cattermole goes off, David Vaughan comes on.

  • 75'

Better from Sunderland as they get two good balls into the box. They rebuild and McClean wins a corner.

  • 74'

Why VDV didn't hit it earlier I don't know - his shot was even heading wide. No penalty for me as it flicked up off Turner's thigh.

  • 73'

The clearest chance of the game and Van der Vaart has fluffed it - Modric played him in on goal, he delayed the shot and allowed Turner to get back, his block looks like it flicks his arm but Chris Foy waves play on. Big chance.

  • 72'

    Cattermole is back on.

  • 71'

Cattermole is limping off for treatment - struggling with a knee injury by the looks.

  • 70'

A poor cross from Bardsley after he found a decent bit of space on the right side. Three in the box too.

  • 69'

No significant impact from Lennon yet. Game still on a knife edge.

  • 67'

Gardner does well to track Modric and get a foot in. All hands to the pump for the home side.

  • 66'

Sunderland getting pinned back now but there is more space on offer when they win the ball back.

  • 65'

Time for changes - Sandro, who has been poor, trudges off and Lennon is on.

  • 64'

An awful spell of play as the ball changes hands with every pass. Sunday League stuff.

  • 63'

A good opening for Sunderland but Sessegnon picks the most difficult pass on offer and Kaboul gets in the way. He had McClean left too.

  • 62'

First card of the match as Sandro clatters Kilgallon late. An awful tackle.

  • 61'

A powerful effort from Bardsley - Friedel pats it into the turf before collecting to counter the swerve.

  • 60'

Good ball in from Larsson but a good piece of defending from Walker as McClean closed in. Corner.

  • 59'

A free header for Bale as he met Assou-Ekotto's cross but he jumped a bit too early and can't keep it down from 12 yards out.

  • 58'

Great shielding from Bardsley as Bale ran at him.

  • 57'

At the other end a lovely ball from VDV to Adebayor but he blasts a volley over and was offside anyway.

  • 56'

Poor from McClean who had time and space to run at Walker - he cuts in and finds traffic before losing the ball.

  • 54'

Nice build up from Bale as he gets to the byline and drags the ball back - Modric backheels for Van der Vaart but he blazes over with his right foot from 17 yards.

  • 53'

A good point raised in commentary - why isn't former Newcastle player Scott Parker getting stick off the home crowd? Have they forgotten?

  • 52'

A wasted free kick from Bardsley as he chips looking for McClean. Assou-Ekotto sees it out for a goal kick.

  • 51'

A more dangerous spell from Spurs as they find Modric inside the area, he cuts it back but Sandro's shot is blocked and now Sunderland come clear.

  • 50'

Now Bardsley's cross deflects off Sandro and Sunderland have a corner.

  • 49'

Sandro offers possession to Bendtner but he has no pace and can't get away from the midfielder.

  • 48'

A pretty slow start to the half.

  • 47'

McClean somehow squeezes a low cross into Sessegnon's feet but the striker can't get any power on the shot and Spurs clear.

  • 46'

    We begin again....

We'll have MatchDay Live kicking off from 14.30pm GMT to cover all the afternoon's matches and at 17.30pm Stoke take on Wolves live on ESPN UK.

Nicklas Bendtner battles with Luka Modric for posession

Tottenham will probably be the more satisfied of the two teams heading into the break but Sunderland came into more as the half progressed. Expect the game to get more stretched the longer it goes without a goal.

  • 45'

HALF TIME An even-ish first half but Tottenham dominating possession and territory. Few clear cut chances though and neither 'keeper worked at all.

  • 44'

Bale turns and shoots but Cattermole tracked him well to block.

  • 43'

Kilgallon blocks as Van der Vaart profited from a poor tackle from Bardsley - very important.

  • 42'

Another good ball in from Larsson but Bendtner's glancing header flies over.

  • 41'

It is an excellent cross, with real pace - Turner climbs high and Sandro gets his noggin on it just in time.

  • 40'

Sunderland get a free kick on the right side. Another chance for Larsson to deliver quality.

  • 39'

McClean's cross very nearly falls for Sessegnon inside the box but Parker gets a boot in. Much more even game now.

  • 38'

Ironic cheers as Sunderland get a free kick. North East crowds are very good at bullying referees.

  • 37'

The referee isn't very popular with the home fans after awarding Spurs another free kick as Gardner bumped Modric. He was quite right though.

  • 35'

Sandro has been in the thick of it this half - he wins another free kick after a double barge from Colback and McClean.

  • 34'

At the other end Bale runs out of pitch when taking on Colback.

  • 33'

A low corner ricochets around the box and hits Parker's arm but it is so close it can't be, but then Kilgallon shoots and Bendtner can't get a touch when faced with Kaboul. Corner.

  • 32'

Now Sandro nearly gives the ball away to Sessegnon but recovers, Sunderland still push forward and Assou-Ekotto concedes a corner.

  • 31'

Cattermole clatters Sandro and Tottenham win a free kick, which leads to a corner.

  • 30'

Colback again does well to slide the ball back to Mignolet as VDV tried to release Walker.

  • 29'

Bendtner has had no change from Kaboul at all in the air.

  • 28'

Colback coping well at left back as he gets a foot in on Walker.

  • 27'

Van der Vaart's excellent pass finds Adebayor but the striker is offside.

  • 26'

Tottenham break and as the ball trickles loose outside the area Parker's strike hits Turner and now the away side have a corner.

  • 25'

Smashing free kick from Larsson and a brave header from Kaboul. Sunderland corner.

  • 23'

McClean troubles Walker as he charges past and wins a free kick. Two excellent left wingers on show today.

  • 22'

More pressure from Spurs but good pressing from Sunderland, who force them back to Friedel.

  • 20'

Poor ball into the box from Walker and Bale can't rescue it. The game has gone a bit flat.

  • 19'

Decent ball into the box from Bardsley and Sessegnon gets to it before Gallas and Kaboul but knocks it out for a goal kick.

  • 18'

Now Sandro wins a corner for Tottenham.

  • 17'

A bit of juggling from Friedel as the corner comes across but he grabs it in the end.

  • 16'

Spurs enjoying 75% possession thus far but Sunderland break and McClean wins a corner off Gallas.

  • 15'

Sunderland playing like the away side here - sitting deep and playing on the counter. Much like they did at Eastlands last week.

  • 14'

Good opening for Adebayor as he gets a free header in the area - the header hits Bardsley on the arm from point blank range. Seen them given.

  • 13'

McClean fouls Walker as he trots down the right touchline. Decent chance to load the box.

  • 12'

Bardsley tracks Bale well and blocks the cross. He'll have to do plenty of that today.

  • 11'

Good effort from Modric as he turns on the edge of the box but Mignolet is behind it.

  • 10'

Nothing happening up front for Sunderland as yet. Bendtner isolated.

  • 8'

Then Assou-Ekotto gets into trouble with about seven Cryuff turns near his own corner flag - Spurs get a free kick as Bale dives in the face of a non-contact tackle from Bardsley.

  • 7'

First decent bit of football from Sunderland ends with a wayward effort from Gardner from the edge of the box.

  • 6'

Finally Sunderland do get into the opposition half but only with an aimless punt from Kilgallon.

  • 5'

Sunderland can't get into Tottenham's half as Modric nearly gets on the end of a Bale cross.

  • 4'

Decent effort from Assou-Ekotto - it flicked the post as Mignolet gave it up.

  • 3'

Sunderland have barely had a kick yet - bar the odd tackle.

  • 2'

Bright sunny day on Wearside and the pitch looks reasonable - Spurs knocking it about early on.

  • 1'

Sunderland are a bit topsy turvy at the moment with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six. They can move into seventh with a win today.

With Arsenal facing a Manchester City side desperate for a win to keep their title hopes alive, Tottenham have a big chance to steal a march on their north London rivals but that Swansea success was their first win in six.

Unchanged teams signify a team doing well and both of these teams should be full of confidence, hopefully that translates into a good game with plenty of goals.

The team news is simple, Tottenham are unchanged from the side that beat Swansea and Sunderland make no changes from the team that secured a fine draw at Manchester City.

Afternoon all, welcome to live coverage of Tottenham's tricky trip to Sunderland.
