Old Trafford, England
Referee: Pedro Proença
United 1-1 Valencia. Ferguson's side probably deserved to win on the balance of things but they will be perfectly happy with the draw that takes them through as group winners and ensures they avoid Real Madrid and Barcelona. A rare goal for Anderson is something else to celebrate as United look towards their league clash with Arsenal. Valencia will likely have a three in five chance of pulling an English team in the second round. That's all for now folks, join us again tomorrow for more
It's all over...
Smalling heads Miguel's cross clear.
Valencia pushing pretty hard for that precious winner.
So, as things stand - United will be going through top with Valencia in second. A late goal for the Spaniards would send them through though.
Rooney with a sloppy pass.
Three minutes of added time to play.
He's looked a little trimmer and more energetic today, Mr Anderson.
Fletcher on for Anderson
Giggs again looking to turn on his 37-year-old burners, but they take a little longer to heat up than they used to and he ends up giving up possession.
Giggs injects some fresh legs into United's attack and immediately produces an exciting moment to make some space on the right wing. Panadero punches the resulting cross away.
Park feeds Rooney but now it's his turn to give the ball away.
It's not as good as it used to be though, Berbatov kicks the ball back to the Valencia goalkeeper uncontested. Where's the competition in that?
But Costa looks to have shaken it off and it's that good ol' classic - the drop ball.
On come the medical staff with a stretcher.
Ricardo Costa looks in some discomfort after clashing with Park.
Park over-runs the ball after a decent-looking run.
Rooney dropping deep to pick up the ball at every opportunity but United still looking a tad sloppy.
The Valencia sub is a Frenchman of Algerian descent. Sound like anyone you know? No pressure there then.
Feghouli on for Pablo.
Giggs on for Nani.
Anderson accelerates but he is pickpocketed by the busy Mata.
Just a few silly mistakes creeping back into United's game in the last couple of minutes.
Stunning ball from Rooney through to Berbatov with the outside of his boot but the ball skips off his strike partner's foot. Poor control.

Park has been particularly lively tonight.
Rooney releases Park and he searches for Berbatov with a delicate through-ball but it's blocked by Mathieu.
Berbatov looks irate after the offside flag goes up against him.
Poor kick from Amos straight to Pablo but Park intercepts.
Isco blasts one from distance but it is well wide.
Mata on the counter for Valencia but the move breaks down.
Poor delivery by nani, didn't get past the near post.
Great piece of skill by Anderson on the edge of his own area to create soem space and United launch a swift break. Fast feet by Bebrbatov wins a corner.
Pablo skins Fabio and Miguel finds himself rather high up the pitch. Apparently too high as he slices on high into the stands.
Aduritz spoons one wide after a jinking run from Pablo created some space.
United have really stepped it up since half-time and should definitely be ahead.
Mata on for Alba.
Rooney the provider again but Berbatov copuldn't curl it around Panadero. The Valencia keeper pushed it out to and Nani followe dup by smashing it embarrassingly high over the bar.
Berbatov clean through and he has missed a sitter!
Lovely cross from Rooney, pinpoint for Berbatov's head again, but it's held this time from Panadero.
Valencia have actually sprung into life in the last couple of minutes since the goal. Pablo looked certain to score from five yards out but Fabio made a great last-ditch challenge.
A first goal at Old Trafford for Anderson and only his second ever goal for the club (discounting that penalty in the 2008 Champions League final shootout that is). It's a red letter day!
United 1-1 Valencia. United finally rewarded for their second-half pressure. Wonderful run from Rafael - he plays Park in down the left and his shot is parried by Panadero (again!) - straight to Anderson who amazingly has scored.
Park shoots from distance and Panadero produces yet another over-dramatic save. Massive punch from the Valencia keeper.
A poor defensive header allows Berbatov to release Park on the left. He tiptoes inside and plays the ball into Rooney, who swivels and looks to bend one into the far corner. Just wide though.
Albelda late on Fabio.
Good interplay between Fabio and Park, but Berbatov gives the ball away.
Elsewhere, Spurs are beating FC Twente 3-2 in a thriller - I knew I should have headed to the Netherlands!
Pablo delivers and Aduritz volleys into the hands of Amos. Decent stop from the young United keeper.
Valencia straight down the other end now and they have a corner of their own.
He was indeed just half a yard off - great finish though - volleying in from a Vidic header.

Nani crosses from the right and Berbatov's header is helped out for a corner.
Valencia looking to consolidate some possession but Anderson picked up the ball in midfield and advanced at pace.
Isco on for Dominguez
Nani ruled offside.
He's limping off the field to a chorus of boos from the United fans. No sympathy floating around Old Trafford tonight.
Dominguez has pulled up with what looks like a hamstring injury and it looks as though Valencia will need to make a change.
Vidic penalised for fouling the goalkeeper.
It hits the wall and rebounds out for a corner.
Rooney steps up to strike the free-kick...
A cautious sub there from Sir Alex, he won't want Ferdinand to get injured ahead of an important league game with Arsenal next Monday.
Smalling on for Ferdinand.
It's all United at the moment and Anderson shows some nifty footwork on the edge of the box to draw a foul and win a free-kick.
Nani nearly trips over his own feet but attempts to make it look like it was some sort of trick. However, he does show a good turn of pace to get past Mathieu and crosses in. Collected by Panadero though.
Untied corner breaks to Rooney and he floats one towards Berbatov but the Bulgarian's header flashes wide of the post.
Good save from Panadero, though it looked to be one for the cameras.
Ben Amos mis-controls the ball but manages to hoof it clear and Berbatov does well to escpae the clutches of a host of white shirts.
No changes as yet from either side, so Ferguson trusting that the side he sent out there in the first-half can get United back into the game.
Right, we're off for the second period...
United will be scratching their heads as to how they go in a goal down, but they failed to take their chances and made enough mistakes to offer the visitors a semi-regular supply of their own.
That's half time.
...which he wastes.
Nani races down the line and does well to keep the ball in play despite the attentions of Mathieu, but he ultimately has to settle for a corner.
A booking for Anderson for a careless foul on Jordi Alba.
It's still fast-paced, but we're not seeing any real chances as the half draws to a close. United will certainly be eager to secure a point here to avoid Real Madrid and Barcelona in the next round.
Nani shows his frustration as Valencia win two quick free-kicks in succession.
A shoddy first touch from Nani sees a United counter founder.
Nani plays a deep cross for Anderson to head onto Miguel's arm, but there's no prospect of a penalty there.
Rooney hits the crossbar with a superb curling long shot from outside the area. It comes to Nani with the goal gaping, but it's not an easy chance and he steers it wide. Nani probably should have scored, though.
More concern for United as Vidic heads off the field for some treatment. Smalling is warming up in case a replacement is needed.
United will find it hard to understand how they're behind here, but they secured a smash-and-grab in Valencia and it could be a similar story here.
Dominguez advanced on goal before slipping it through to Pablo Hernandez, who made no error in firing beyond Amos.
GOAL FOR VALENCIA!

Nani finds Rooney in the centre of the area. Rooney looks to flick it through for Berbatov but, while a nice idea, it's not worked.

Anderson dribbles into the area, gets caught in two minds and eventually ends up skewing a shot, off-balance, well wide.
Anderson pulls the ball back for Nani, whose sidefooted effort isn't troubling the 'keeper.

A lung-busting run from Rooney there hinted at a return to the player he used to be, but the move comes to nothing.
Berbatov goes clean through on goal as Anderson plays an inch-perfect throughball, but he makes a mess of it. Panadero claws it away.
Valencia have the ball in the net ... but the ref gave a generous foul against Jordi Alba on Nani some time before.
Dominguez fires off a fierce shot into the side netting. Rooney gave it away that time.
Berbatov holds up the play in the area before chipping in a cross for the onrushing Park, but it's behind him. It's not quite coming off for Berbatov so far.
Dominguez gives Amos his first test, firing in a shot down low to try to catch him off-guard. Safe handling, though.
Anderson goes clean through after a neat one-two with Rooney, but his finish is really poor and it's an easy save.
It's been an end-to-end start, but neither side has done much in the final third to suggest a breakthrough is imminent.
Park crosses into the centre for Berbatov, and then Fabio goes in, but a foul's given.
Hernandez puts the ball in deep towards the far post, but Ricardo Costa's header isn't causing any problems.

The corner is flicked on at the near post, but there's no one to meet it and United clear.
Ferdinand puts the ball behind for a corner.
Berbatov looks to release Rooney, but there's too much weight on the pass and he would have been offside. Still, good positive early stuff from the hosts.

A quick free-kick from Anderson nearly finds Berbatov in the area, but Panadero gathers.
Nani unleashes a shot from the edge of the area after escaping Ibanez but, despite seeming to catch it well enough, it's wide of goal.
Berbatov also looks to cause some problems as he cuts in from the left, but again he's crowded out.
Nani looks to make a foray down the left flank, but his attempted pass is cut out.
Edwin van der Sar has not even been named on the bench.
It's only the third time Amos has started for United, and seems a risk given that top spot in the group is up for grabs.
