FULL TIME A superb victory for Liverpool, and they thoroughly deserve it. Two superb goals from Torres, and Chelsea suffer their second defeat of the season.
Maxi is clean through as Liverpool break, takes it round Cech and goes down but he went down far too theatrically. He should have hit it earlier.
Meireles comes off and Jay Spearing comes on.

Ngog gets to a long ball in front of Alex and is clattered.
Sturridge has another pop but Reina is right behind it.

Fernando Torres comes off to a standing ovation and David Ngog is on.
Now Reina comes out to claim the ball from Sturridge but misses it. Though he makes amends as he dives back on the ball.
Brilliant work from Carragher, as he makes sure Drogba can't tap in after Anelka's shot was diverted onto the bar by Reina.
Drogba nods down but niehter ANelka nor Sturridge can profit.
Kuyt trots off and Jonjo Shelvey is on.

Liverpool break and Lucas holds play up before Torres tries to dribble into the area but is beaten by Alex.

What a chance! Kuyt spins on a ball inside the area and fires in a low shot and Cech's right foot diverts it behind for another corner. Superb stop.
Now Torres has a wildly optimistic shot from an angle but it gets a deflection and heads behind for a corner.
Gerrard mops up and releases Torres but Ramires gets a foot in.
Torres volleys on goal but it is right at Cech.

HALF TIME What a 45 minutes for Liverpool, Roy Hodgson and Fernando Torres. He looks back to his lethal best. Chelsea need some serious changes if they are to compete in the second half.
Anelka fires wide of the target but he was a yard offside. Chelsea are stunned here.
Cole slips as Chelsea looked to break, Meireles feeds Torres and he cuts in from the left to bend a beautiful shot into the corner.

Gerrard whips it in but Ramires heads clear.
Terry climbs over Torres and Mikel to win a header and ensures everyone lies injured after it. He actually kneed Terry in the back of the head. Liverpool free kick.
Zhirkov's corner is poor and Gerrard hoofs clear at the near post.
Malouda wins the ball and has a crack - its deflected behind for a corner.
A tasty looking tackle from Torres on Ramires but Howard Webb had already brought the game back for a Liverpool free kick.

Maxi's touch is horrible as Kuyt finds him. There was decent space ahead of him too.
Kelly cuts inside and unleashes a powerful shot that Terry blocks, then Kuyt concedes a needless foul on the Chelsea skipper as the ball drops.
Chelsea can't get anything going down the left at all, despite Cole, Zhirkov and Malouda all getting involved in that last attack.
Kalou nods to Anelka even though he could see his colleague was offside. Skrtel is relieved as it was his weak header that offered the chance.
Maxi and Torres get in a bit of a tangle as a loose ball is on offer in the area.
A shout for handball on Zhirkov as Meireles fires in a shot, then as Kelly gets involved, the Portuguese gets a strike on goal that Cech saves.
Roy Hodgson will be delighted with his team's start to this match. They look like an XI with restored confidence.

Malouda's run looks menacing until a Kelly leg diverts the ball back to Reina.
Torres hoofs a ball upfield to relieve some pressure and Cech miscontrols it horribly. Luckily for him, there was no-one around to profit and he tidies up.
Kelly, the young right back, gets his head on a ball intended for Malouda. Anfield is rocking now.
Cole gets down the left and crosses but Kalou's header is right at Reina.
If you'll forgive me, that was a real Dutch of class from Kuyt. Solid finish too. Is Fernando back for good?
A splendid pass from Kuyt as he lofts a ball over Terry. Torres controls well and hits his shot into the ground and up over Cech.
