The corner is taken short to Evra. He gets to the byline and pulls back to Chris Smalling, who is unable to hook the ball goalwards.
Nani lets fly again, Gabbidon deflects his effort wide for a corner.
The corner is cleared and West Ham, as per the rest of the afternoon, fail to trouble Van der Sar.
Corner West Ham, can they grab a late goal?
Michael Carrick has taken a blow to the head and it looks painful. Pablo Barrera cut inside and shot towards goal, Carrick flung himself in front of the shot and caught a stray boot for his troubles.
Fortunately for West Ham they are able to clear the corner relatively easily.
Almost a fourth for United. More fantastic passing eventually resulting in Rooney feeding Giggs. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, he is crowded out and United earn a corner.
Scott Parker almost scores a consolation goal for West Ham. Collecting the ball, he steps inside Smalling a swings a left foot at the ball. His shot is sliced and goes narrowly wide.

Nemanja Vidic has had nothing to do all afternoon. When called upon to stop Carlton Cole, he executes a perfect sliding tackle to dispossess the England man.

Some defensive lapses from Manchester United. Firstly, Chris Smalling scuffs a pass just beyond Carlton Cole. Seconds later, United allow Noble far too much space in the box, but his chipped effort is weak and easily saved.
Kieron Dyer looked back to something like his best today. Hopefully he can stay injury free and restart his faultering career.

A triple substitution for United. Scholes and Berbatov have deserved a rest. Owen and Carrick will be coming on with a point to prove.

GOAL Berbatov volleys a third for United! Fletcher feeds O'Shea wide on the right, who slides the ball into Nani. His chip finds Berbatov at the back post, who scissor-kicks the ball past Rob Green. A beautiful goal.
Ryan Giggs fires the free kick straight at goal. He connects well with the ball, but it's just too high and goes over the bar.
Boa Morte lunges in on O'Shea and United have a dangerous free kick near the byline.
Nani takes one of the worst corners in Premier League history, chipping the ball straight to Mark Noble.
West Ham look completely lifeless. They're giving the ball away and United look a good bet to add to their tally here.
More fantastic play from Berbatov. Evra gets to the byline and drills the ball into the box. Berbatov controls the ball and tees up Scholes, his shot is well struck, but straight at Green.

Barerra looks like he's about to be introduced for West Ham. Can he provide the same threat Kieron Dyer has on the wing?

Nemanja Vidic strolls forward and slips the ball through to Berbatov. The Bulgarian lays the ball off to Nani, who completely fluffs his effort and sends it wide.
Kieron Dyer hits the post for West Ham! Lovely build up play between Noble and Faubert. The Frenchman back-heeled the ball to Dyer, his right-foot drive clattered the post. He deserves a goal.
Kieron Dyer has had a lively game for West Ham. If nothing else, Avram Grant can take that from this game.
A last ditch Gabbidon tackle denies Rooney after excellent play from Berbatov. United are playing with a real swagger now.
Piquionne is warming up for West Ham. Even if he is to be introduced, surely it's too little too late?
GOAL Nani scores a glorious second for Manchester United! Scholes play the ball into Rooney, who's lay off is perfect. Nani picks up the ball and drifts past Gabbidon before firing a left-foot shot past Green.
West Ham need to push forward in this half. Maybe someone like Barrera could give them the impetus they need?
The thrown in comes to nothing and United are back in possession. Scholes is spraying the ball around effortlessly, his angled through ball is only just too long for Ryan Giggs.
A positive start from West Ham. Faubert earns a throw in deep in United's half.

Sir Alex will want his side to push on now. With Chelsea in free-scoring form, United will want to improve their goal difference.
Avram Grant would have been happy with his side's performance until the penalty. One lapse of concentration from Spector has cost the Hammers dear.

Nani wastes another chance for United! His angled through ball is sublime and straight into Nani's path. His touch is poor, and he eventually flicks the ball over the bar.
A suicidal back pass from Faubert! Without looking he knocks the ball back towards Rob Green. With Wayne Rooney lurking, he does well to clear.
Berbatov should've made it two! His first effort is blocked, it falls back to him on the volley and he promptly puts it into the stands.
West Ham will be keen to keep it tight until half time. Surely a second goal for United would seal the win?
The corner is a bad one. It doesn't clear the first man and is booted away.
What a save from Robert Green! Gigg's cross is cleared as far as Darren Fletcher who fires towards the top corner. Rob Green does incredibly to tip it wide.

West Ham forge a decent opening thanks to excellent work from Cole. Dyer finds himself on the right, after ignoring Faubert's overlapping run, he hits a poor cross into the box which is headed clear.

Berbatov is winning the aerial battle with the West Ham defence. He manages to get his head on John O'Shea's cross, but no one is there to collect his knock down.
Johnny Evans is hobbling for Manchester United at the moment. That could be a worry for Sir Alex.

After Chelsea won again against Stoke earlier, the pressure is firmly back on United against the Hammers this evening.
West Ham have failed in a bid for Juve striker David Trezeguet Shame, he could have been useful against United.
