White Hart Lane, England
Referee: Mike Dean
FULL TIME Well, a breathless match ends with drama. Drogba holds his hands up to the fans to apologise, and Gomes does well to reverse his mistake. A point each probably the right result.
A total waste from Bale, who goes for goal rather than get the ball in the mixer.
Spurs free kick, last chance of the game.
A penny for the thoughts of Frank Lampard - Chelsea's regular penalty taker. Now Drogba is carded for a lunge on Hutton.
GOMES SAVES and redeems himself! It was a terrible penalty, a perfect height for the keeper and Drogba looks humbled.
CHELSEA PENALTY Gomes comes out and bumps into Ramires as he touched the ball away from goal. Dean had no choice. Drogba to take.
Bale tries to latch on to a long ball as Essien comes across but though the crowd howl for a foul, it isn't given, and instead of a corner Dean gives a goal kick.
Sandro comes on for Palacios, who was hobbling about on the touchline hoping to come back on.
Lampard wins a header before Cole looks like he may get a sight of goal. Palacios gets in the way before Cole inadvertently stands on his ankle.
Crouch wins a diagonal ball into the box but Cech claims in front of Keane.
Tricky feet from Sturridge and a good looking cross as Lampard lurked but Bassong nods away.
Chelsea break quickly from the corner but ANelka's ball is poor, for some reason though Gomes came hurtling out and smashed the ball into Assou-Ekotto. Chelsea throw.
Bale does well to win a corner. Spurs' first of the match.
Palacios is down after a shot in the jewels, as Drogba barged him.
A session of pinball ends when Essien has a pop on goal but shanks it wide.
A half chance for Lennon as a Spurs free kick falls to him, but his shot was always arrowing wide of the far post.
Spurs respond with a sub of their own as Keane replaces Pavlyuchenko.
Lamaprd comes on to cheers from the away fans and boo's from the home support. Malouda makes way.
A superb clearance from Assou-Ekotto as Sturridge was about to convert Drogba's flick. Excellent defending.
Drogba wins a corner then gets it short but Hutton was alive to it and concedes another one.
Here comes Frank....
The goal has knocked the stuffing out of Spurs a lilttle, but there are still gaps everywhere and I wouldn't bet against a winning goal, or more, here.
Mike Dean penalises Essien for a tackle on Modric that looked strong but fair. His foot may have been raised slightly, and that is why the card is out.
It looks as if the ball hit the top of Drogba's arm as he challenged with Dawson. If Gomes has got his hands out of the way and let the ball hit his chest, he would have saved it.
Drogba challenged Dawson and spun onto the ball and while his shot was venomous, Gomes should have done better. As it was, he parried it into the air and could only watch as it crept into the net.
GOAL Drogba has done it! Gomes spills a powerful shot that dribbles over the line!
A risky exchange between Ferriera and Cech inside their own box. Criminal stuff, and they are lucky Crouch doesn't profit.
Kalou off, Sturridge on. Still no sign of Lamps.
This time Lennon picks out Pavlyuchenko with a corss but his chest control is awful. Goal coming here.
Frenetic pace to the game as Malouda's cross is headed clear by Dawson at the near post.
Now Lennon runs forward, gets round Terry but pulls a cross behind all his colleagues in the box.
Hutton has acres of space on the right but as he bumbles towards goal he decides to cross rather than shoot. Terry clears. He should be leathering that at goal.
Palacios's ball found Pavlyuchenko clean through on goal but the pass was fizzed at him and the Russian can't gather it properly.
Frank Lampard's extensive limbering up routine continues in earnest. Surely he'll be on soon.
Great interception from Palacios to collect Kalou's flick as Chelsea came forward, then as Spurs break Bale dribbles a shot well wide.
Defoe comes off after a good shift and Crouch is on.
Another good tackle from Dawson as Drogba danced across the penalty area. Bassong was down after a clash of heads with Drogba.
Malouda falls when faced with Hutton, then hacks his opponent down as he looked to come away with the ball.
Dawson gets Hutton out of jail with a firm tackle on Malouda, who could have been away. Chelsea upping the ante here.
But as the ball is turned back in it is Palacios who forces his own keeper into a smart save as he flicks a header inadvertently on goal.
Drogba has a good effort on goal and Gomes dives across to turn it behind for a corner, which is easily cleared.
Spurs holding a decent shape as Chelsea enjoy a spell of possession.
There was for a second there though as Assou-Ekotto did superbly to get in front of Anelka and clear from inside the area.
Not much noticeable improvement in Chelsea's attacking threat since half time.
Good opening for Modric on the edge of the box but he pulls his volley wide. More good work from Spurs.
Terry looks for Drogba but he is flagged offside.
Pav puts Spurs in front.
An early chance for Defoe as Modric and Lennon combine neatly. His shot from the edge of the box is always spinning away from goal and ends up a yard wide.
Mikel makes way for Drogba, as Chelsea signal their intent. Mike Dean gets us underway again...
HALF TIME The half ends with another break forward from Terry but as he back tracks he very nearly puts his arm on a Pavlyuchenko cross into the box. A good half with the promise of more to come.
Anelka's terrible ball hands Modric possession and he puts a ball in front of Defoe for him to run onto but Cech is out in the nick of time.
Ramires successfully crowds out Bale before Modric tidies up at the feet of Kalou.
A long spell of possession from Chelsea ends with Anelka turning a cross into the net but he was a yard offside.
A lovely ball from Ramires releases Anelka but Bassong gets in with an acrobatic foot before the striker can shoot. Corner, which Gomes punches clear.
Hutton thumps a decent looking ball towards Defoe but Terry is there to intercept with his chest.
Ramires is rather harshly adjudged to have fouled Defoe despite the striker going in with studs up.
At the other end Kalou has a free header from 13 yards but misjudged his jump and nods high over the bar.
Palacios spins the ball wide for Lennon who beats Cole and his cross would have been tapped in by Pavlyuchenko has Cech not claimed it.
Malouda's ball in is met by Kalou but his flick is a yard wide of the post with Gomes scrambling.
Assou-Ekotto is booked for an earlier, nasty challenge before that Tottenham break.
Superb defending from Terry as Assou-Ekotto found Defoe. Spurs had two on one but Terry won the tackle, then skipped away from Lennon. He carried on his forward run but couldn't meet the cross.
Ramires spins a long ball into the box and Gomes says 'thank you very much'.
Modric skips round a few tackles before Ferreira catches up with him. The ball is diverted almost into the path of Defoe but Cech slides out.
A meaty tackle from Hutton goes unpunished but Bale then buys one for a trip by Ferreira. From the free kick Pavlyuchenko meets it at the back post but he skews it wide.
Good recovery from Assou-Ekotto as Ferreira got round the back. Still, he got a bit lucky there.
Palacios wins the ball and releases Bale but his cross after 65 yards is right at Cech.
Bale runs into traffic but is denied a free kick, then Terry's tackle prevents Lennon's ball getting through to Defoe.
Decent move from Chelsea as Malouda gets in down the left and Anelka's cross is met by Kalou. Gomes saves relatively comfortably.
Pavlyuchenko sticks a foot out on Essien, who makes a bit of a meal of it.
First real chance for Chelsea as Ramires fires in a great ball to the near post where a flying Kalou can't flick it on target. If he had, Gomes was nowhere.
Lennon releases Hutton but his cross is too near Cech and he gathers.
Excellent work from Modric, who takes the ball from a lazy Anelka.
Cole collects a long ball but Hutton does extremely well to shepherd him out of play.
Essien is lucky to get away with that, while Bale will just be thankful it wasn't a lot worse.
Oh dear, a horrible looking collapse from Bale, who was flicked on the side of the knee by Essien. It forced his ankle underneath his knee but he manages to walk off ok and now he is back on.
Remember, this is a team bereft of confidence. One clean sheet in the last eight games. Mind you, they still have the best defensive record in the league.
Well, how will Chelsea respond now? They began well but started to sit back as Spurs grew into the game and the defending for the goal was woeful.
GOAL Pavlyuchenko fires into the net! Defoe finds him in the box, he spins and slots a left foot shot into the near post. Terry and Mikel just watched him!
Anelka is now starting to look a little isolated as Tottenham come into the game more. Malouda tries to find him there but Bassong nips in.
Bale's first real involvement as he collects Lennon's cross but shanks his effort wide with his right foot.
Ivanovic belts it ten yards wide. Terrible effort.
Dawson is late on Anelka and Chelsea have a free kick 35 yards out to the right of centre.
Another raking ball from Essien finds Ferreira but he can't control the ball with his head.
Modric's passing is a bit off at the moment and Bale struggling to get into the game.
Modric tries to release Defoe but Cole intervenes.
Nicely worked passing move by Chelsea, who are in control of the game, but Essien's curler is right at Gomes.
Some lovely distribution from Essien already. Malouda's scuffed shot lands at the feet of Dawson in the box and he hoofs clear.
Pavlyuchenko wates decent possession round the penalty area when he had plenty in support.
Ferrieria is beaten by Bale, thanks to a lucky rebound, but gets back to win the ball before the winger can do anything with it.
Hesitation at the back from Spurs as Essien releases Anelka and he finds Kalou in the area. His touch is poor but Assou-Ekotto is forced to clear as Malouda looked to steal in at the back post.
The first effort on goal is from Nicolas Anelka as Modric gives the ball away but the striker drags his shot wide from 25 yards.
The teams head out to a noisy welcome. Huge game for Chelsea and Ancelotti this. Which way will it go? We're about to find out...
For Spurs, Michael Dawson returns for and takes the skipper's armband. Pavlyuchenko beats Crouch to a starting place and Palacios keeps his place from midweek.
So, Didier Drogba is dropped to the bench for tactical reasons, says Carlo Ancelotti, though he was talking about the effect the striker's malaria has been having recently. Frank Lampard makes his long awaited return and should come off the bench at some stage.
