Full time. A great effort from Scunthorpe, who played some excellent football and put the frighteners up City at various points but in the end that extra bit of class told. City go into round five and the draw is next. Stay tuned...
Byrne does well to intervene as City look for number five with Zabaleta.
The game has reverted to training ground style with the outcome decided.
Five minutes added...
The draw for the next round follows at 6pm. You can catch it on Soccernet of course.
Scunny changes: McCann and Hayes off, Wright and Forte on.
City stroking it about now and Scunny have run out of puff...
Robinho scores, and is promptly replaced by Bellamy.
A silky move ends with Petrov sliding a great ball through to Robinho, who finishes well and then heads over to the away end for a hug in what he has said himself may well be his last game.
Rob Jones is coming off and Kenny Milne is on.
Boyata gets a free header from the corner but can't get it the right side of the post.
Great save from Murphy as Petrov searches for the top corner again. He flies across and turns the Bulgarian's effort over the bar for a corner.
McCann gets the ball back after his corner is cleared and Woolford tries an ambitious flick towards the near post. Taylor watches it roll the wrong side of the upright.
Jones, who is playing as a centre forward, wins a corner.
Jones stays forward after a series of long throws and wins a flick on. Benjani clears and Togwell will launch another Delap-style chuck in.
Thompson takes on Cunningham, who is reluctant to pile in as he's on a yellow card, before Zabaleta nods the cross back to Taylor.
Boyata intercepts a through ball looking for Hooper then Jones and Benjani tussle for a long ball that eventually trickles through to Murphy.
McCann whips it in and Jones is climbing all over Onuoha. City clear and then Scunny give them a cheap goal kick.
Sylvinho hauls down Togwell from behind. Sylvinho has a yellow already. If he hadn't, he'd definitely have been booked there.
A slick counter from City breaks down with Cunningham, who tries to cut inside Byrne and loses control. Scunny fans singing: "We're going to win 4-3."
Looking at the replay it looks like it was City's Boyata who got the final touch from Byrne's long throw and the game is back on.
GOAL! We've got one! Togwell!
We could do with a goal to reinvigorate this tie. Sorry City fans.
A couple of half chances for Scunny as two long throw-ins cause City a few copncerns. Togwell hits the first but Onuoha blocks, then Byrne's ambitious volleys drops wide.
Zabaleta is coming on for Stephen Ireland.
A triple save from Murphy! The corner falls to Ibrahim but Murphy saves his effort from six yards out with his legs, Robinho smashes in the rebound but Murphy is up to parry, then Robinho's follow up is grabbed on the line by the diving 'keeper. Superb stuff.
Petrov has missed a decent chance to put the game truly beyond doubt as he capitalises on a mistake from Byrne. His angled drive goes past the post via a bump on the turf and strangely the ref gives a corner.
Sylvinho's ball looking for Ireland was deflected and nearly ran for Benjani but Murphy is alert and races out to hoof clear.
Ireland clears McCann's free kick but only as far as Thompson on the edge of the box but his effort is wild.
McCann wins a free kick off Ibrahim. Decent chance if Scunny can launch a decent delivery.
Petrov tries to copy Sylvinho's heroics with a shot of his own but it limps into Murphy's arms.
I'll get my coat. As soon as I mention how well Scunny are playing or how poorly City are performing I get busted. Sylvinho has just lashed one into the top corner from 30 yards and that should seal the game for City.
Scunthrope do play good football. A lovely move nearly unearths a chance for Hooper but Kompany clears. Scunny are really up for this.
Petrov and Robinho link nicely and the winger tries to replicate his early goal with another powerful shot towards the near post but this time Murphy watches it flash wide.
Scunthorpe have come out with renewed purpopse after the extended break and Togwell demonstrates just that with a brilliant curling effort from 25 yards out that forces Taylor into an excellent stop.
Hooper swings in the cross and Kompany clears. Thompson runs onto it and hits one from 25 yards but it was always rising.
McCann looks long for Woolford and Ireland's touch means Scunny have a corner.
Robinho tries to find Petrov but Mirfin intercepts in the nick of time.
Cunningham gets a booking within two minutes of his first taste of City action. A bit harsh it was too, as he ccontested an aerial ball with Byrne.
We've been delayed in starting the second half due to an illness to the linesman. While the officials re-arrange themselves, Greg Cunningham has come on in place of De Jong and Sylvinho goes to central midfield.
A great chance for two in two minutes as Ireland and Petrov swap passes. Ireland is in down the left channel and tries to find the far corner but can't get the curl on it. That is half time, and City rediscovered their flow just as the break approached.
Well, that was far too easy. Ireland lifts a cute ball over the top and Onuoha pokes it under Murphy.
City can still threaten when they string it together though as Ireland gets in down the right channel. His cross is cut out by Jones before Robinho tries a very weak effort with his left foot.
City continue to become even more disjointed as the half nears it end. Sylvinho whacks a crossfield ball out of play.
This time it is the other full back, Onuoha who throws in a wasteful cross when time and space were on his side.
Byrne is a relieved man after he lost out meekly to Sylvinho. The left back's cross looks for Ireland but Murphy gets there first.
Sylvinho finds Robinho on the edge of the area but the Brazilian lets the ball run too far across his body before blasting one high and wide. "Sold in the morning," sign Scunny's fans.
Taylor claims well under pressure.
De Jong launches into two tackles and is penalised for the second one. Scunny can swing this into the area..
Petrov, dropping deeper into midfield, looks for Benjani over the top but Murphy is on his toes again.
Ibrahim does well to keep Robinho's pass in and cross but Mirfin clears. City try to build again but Togwell intercepts.
Nice link up between Hayes and Hooper. The former lays-off to the latter who hits one over the bar from the edge of the area.
It's easy to kick a man when he's down but it was Robinho's error that led to that goal. He lost the ball and Scunny won a corner, from which they scored. The sooner he scurries off back to Santos the better.
Its no more than Scunthorpe deserve. They rallied superbly after City's goal, while the visitors just switched off. A brilliant finish but a poor decision from the linesman.
City fail to clear their lines and as the ball is pumped back into the box for the third time Hayes is a yard offside but volleys past Taylor and into the net. Great strike but it shouldn't have stood.
Byrne robs Robinho far too easily and City look short of numbers at the back, sadly Thompson's ball is poor and City clear for a corner.
Benjani does well down the left and feeds Petrov who tries a curler into the far corner but a flying Murphy denies him.
City clear the corner and burst upfield. Robinho gets the ball and has a crack but hits it right at Murphy when Petrov at the back post was a better option.
Cracking long ball from Mirfin and only a touch from Sylvinho prevents Thompson getting a low cross in. Corner.
Ibrahim is down for City. Not sure why. Its the 18-year-old's debut and he might not last 24 minutes of it.
Onuoha gets down the right side and blazes a shot over the bar. A tricky chance.
A City counter breaks down as Benjani strays offside...
Williams marauds down the left again and Taylor hammers the ball out of play after Boyata's back pass. City have switched off since the goal.
Poor Scunny. They may not get two better chances in the entire game and they've missed them both within 20 seconds.
Two golden chances for Scunny to get level! Burne is free round the back post and hits the bar with a free header from four yards before the ball is pumped back in and Hayes shanks wide from eight yards.
Great play from Cunny as Hayes flicks into Williams' path. He bursts through on goal and should have unloaded earlier, but Boyata tracked him all the way and concedes a corner.
Nice combination between Hayes and Woolford, who should have hit it first time. Boyata makes the challenge.
Sylvinho looks for Robinho over the top but Murphy is out to head clear just outside his box.
Woolford tries to do a Petrov by cutting inside and having a pop but it was always sailing wide. Better from Scunny though.
Its nine years ago this week that Roberto Mancini made his only FA Cup appearance, when he was at Leicester City.
Hayes gets some space down the left but his low cross is booted clear by Kompany.
City look very fluid in the opening stages as Robinho lays-ff to Ireland, who moves it on towards Benjani but Joe Murphy gets there first.
Another long ball unsettles City's back line but Hooper can't latch on to it. Scunny should just lump it long it seems...
A nightmare start for Scunthorpe, whose game plan has gone out of the window within 180 seconds. Their stiff task just got stiffer.
Nice City move as Robinho gets his stepovers out, then feeds Petrov who beats Thompson and rifles a shot into the top corner. A thunderbolt.
An early ball over the top nearly releases Hooper but Taylor is out to claim at the second attempt.
Stories today suggest this could be Robinho's last game for City. The player himself has been quoted as saying: "The directors all agree that it's better to send me out on loan. It would be exceptional to return to Santos. Playing for Santos would help me in my path to the World Cup. It is my home, I know everyone."
