It wasn't the greatest game at times but United did well to grind to a 2-0 lead and then made it look easy from there.
The final whistle blows at the Reebok and United take all three points.
Valencia sets up Macheda for a shot, but Cahill is still fighting for the Bolton cause and makes a great tackle.
Macheda chases back covering Ricketts. The duo have raced almost the full length of the pitch and in the end the Bolton defender overruns and hands a goalkick to United.
The Bolton fans are starting to leave the Reebok Stadium now.
Macheda and Gibson combine on the left. Gibson's cross is blocked for a corner. Nani's corner is rubbish.
Valencia takes down a goalkick and passes inside to Macheda in one smooth movement. Macheda drives at the Bolton defence but strikes his shot straight into Knight.
The corner comes in from Lee, but Davies is all over Vidic and the referee gives a foul in United's favour.
Wilshere lashes in another delivery. Bolton win a corner.
Ryan Giggs, who has had a great game, is taken off and on comes Macheda.
4-0 now... maybe United are mindful that Chelsea boosted their goal difference with a 7-1 win earlier today.
Berbatov starts off another United attack. Nani beats Ricketts again and this time it's Gibson that smashes it in from close range. GOAL!!
Alex Ferguson certainly thinks it's all over and takes off Fletcher, replacing him with Gibson.
It looks like United will be going back to the top of the Premier League this evening. Unless there is an amazing fightback from Bolton.
A great piece of skill from both Nani and Berbatov. This game needed soemthing like that.
Nani turns Ricketts inside out on the left and then slides the ball to the penalty spot for Berbatov to cheekily flick the ball into the net. GOAL!!
The Bolton fans are trying to lift their team.
Berbatov takes the ball down with aplomb but then attempts to spin with it and messes up... much to the delight of the home crowd.
United also make a substitution. Carrick replaces Scholes.
It's a double change for Bolton. Matt Taylor comes on to replace Cohen.
Bolton make a change. Klasnic comes on for Elmander.
Wilshere is still the driving force in midfield for Bolton and sets up Lee for a shot. The Korean delays too long and Vidic gets across to block his effort.
Jaaskelainen will be unhappy withn his role in that goal. He might have done better with the initial shot.
Giggs sets up Fletcher for a shot. The Scot hits one from distance, Jaaskelainen can't hold the shot and Berbatov follows up to tap the ball past the keeper. GOAL!!
The replay shows that Vidic caught him with an elbow but it was unintentional in the referee's view.
Elmander goes down clutching his head after a battle with Vidic.
Wilshere's cross is poor and the corner comes to nothing... like most things in this half.
Elmander puts Vidic under pressure and wins a corner... although the Swede touched the ball last.

Elmander finds a bit of space 30-yards out and fires off a shot that goes straight at Van Der Sar.
Neville attempts a first-time pass over the Bolton defence for Scholes but it's just a bit heavy.
Wilshere and Lee add some invention in the middle of the pitch for Bolton but too often the ball ends up going out wide for a cross which Vidic invariably heads clear.
Wilshere and Evans are in a foot race. Th United defender gets there first to snuff out a potential attack for Bolton.
Nani chips in a cross and Jaaskelainen punches clear through a crowd of players... he leaves two of his own on the deck.
Lee whips in a great cross to the back post. Elmander and Davies are there but somehow United manage to get the ball clear.

Giggs attempts to provide some invention. He flicks the ball to Berbatov, who plays a one-two with Fletcher, who pokes a shot wide. Much better from United.

Well an eventful end to the half but the score remains 1-0 to Man United, thanks to another own goal.

...Wilshere decides to shift the ball rather than strike it and United rush out and block the evetual shot from Davies.
Davies and Vidic tussle on the edge of the United box and the ref gives Bolton a freekick in a dangerous area....
A lack of communication between Valencia and Berbatov on the right surrenders possession.
Wilshere whips in a freekick. Cahill wins the header but puts his effort wide of the post. The whistle has gone for a foul anyway.
Both sides have spent the past few minutes seeing who can kick the ball highest into the air.
Lee and Muamba probe the United defence but there is no way through.
Berbatov, Giggs and Nani combine. But once again when the ball is played forward there is nobody there.
...somehow Van der Sar manages to sticksout a big hand and turns the ball round the post. What a save!
Muamba makes some space on the edge of the box and smashes a right foot shot that heads straight for the top corner...
What was Samuel doing? Fletcher was in the vacinity but the defender had enough time to think. 1-0 United.
Nani flicks the ball over his head for Giggs to chase down the left wing. Giggs puts in an early cross.... and Samuel puts the ball in his own net. GOAL!!
Another hoof up the pitch for Bolton ends with Elmander's hopeful shot being blocked.
Lots of possession for United but no end product as yet.
Neville an Nani combine on the right and set up Berbatov. The Bulgarian races into the box but takes too much time over his shot and Knight recovers to make a good tackle.
Bolton are living up to thier stereotype so far; lots of long-ball stuff.
Evans climbs on Davies and gives away a foul. Lee chips the ball into the box but Cahill can't direct his header on target.
Evra is twice fouled but stays on his feet and passes to Giggs on the edge of the box. Giggs beats Knight and then pokes his shot just over the bar.
Ricketts has launched a few long-throws, to no effect.

United easily defend the resulting corner.
Wilshere spots the run of Elmander, who shoots from a tight angle. Van Der Sar makes a great save at his near post.
Berbatov and Knight are wrestling with each other for the ball. The foul goes in favour of the defender.. as it always does.
Samuel races forward. He has Wilshere ahead of him but makes the wrong choice and plays the ball wide to Davies, who is tackled by Fletcher.
Evra is back on and straight into the action as he breaks up and attack by Bolton's Lee.

After a scramble in the Bolton box Fletcher pokes the ball back to Evans, who skies his shot from about 10-yards out. He should have hit the target.
Fletcher whips in a low cross. Berbatov hooks the ball towards goal and Jaaskelainen has to react quickly at his near post to prevent a goal.
From a United corner the ball drops to Scholes, about 25-yards out. The midfielder sets himself for a trademark strike but hits his shot high and wide.
United break with Valencia, who heads towards the area and crosses for Berbatov. Cahill is back to make an intercepting, and very important, header.

Wilshere whips in the corner and Van Der Sar comes out to claim the ball. He launches it down the pitch for Nani, who is fouled.

Berbatov shows some silky skills, linking the play. Just as United start to build up some pressure Evra slices his cross out for a goalkick.
Valencia shows good strength to battle for the ball on the edge of the Bolton box, but it's all a bit scrappy from United.
Davies dives to win a freekick for Bolton. Wilshere crosses into the box but Berbatov is back there to clear for United.
Cohen is putting himself about and fouls Valencia... could be a fiesty game.
Davies knocks the ball down to Elmander in the box, but Evans is quick to deal with the danger and hoofs the ball clear.
Manchester United get the game underway, kicking from right to left. United are in their usual red and white kit, Bolton in blue and white.
Chelsea beat Aston Villa 7-1 to go top of the Premier League so United really need a victory here at the Reebok Stadium.
Gary Cahill is back for Bolton after recovering from a blood clot in his arm and that will be a real boost for the defence.
There is no Rooney or Ferdinand for United. The former is rested and the latter has a groin problem.
