Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium, Greece

Referee: Valentin Ivanov

  • 90'

Panathinaikos thoroughly deserve their point, but they owe a great deal of thanks to Jens Lehmann

  • 90'

Yet again Arsenal failed to impress on the European stage, rarely threatening Panathinaikos and struggling to get into the flow of the game

  • 90'

And that's the end of the game, honours finish even

  • 90'

Vyntra enters the book for a foul on Cole

  • 90'

Cole slips in the area and almost gifts a last ditch chance to Epalle - but he escapes to clear

  • 90'

Panathinaikos make their final change to waste a few more seconds, Miltiadis Sapanis comes on for Ezequiel Gonzalez

  • 90'

Arsenal are enjoying possession, but the Greeks are back in numbers

  • 90'

There will be two minutes added on in Athens

  • 89'

Skacel picks up a yellow card for time wasting

  • 88'

Time is running out for Arsenal now, they haven't deserved to take the three points

  • 87'

...another fine stop by Chalkias, who keeps out Pires' effort from point blank range - how did Arsenal not score?

  • 86'

It bounces back up to Reyes who intelligently nods it to Pires to his right, and he must score...

  • 85'

Reyes gets space in the box and has time to unleash a power drive which Chalkias does brilliantly to keep out

  • 84'

Arsenal get a free-kick on the right, Fabregas plays into towards the edge of the six yard box, Ljungberg is there first but his glancing header is poor and the hosts survive

  • 83'

Awful defending all round by Arsenal - Lehmann was in no man's land, Olisadebe was unmarked and his header was simply planted into the back of the net. Level once more

  • 82'

    GOAL!!!

  • 81'

Corner to Panathinaikos, with Basinas delivering from the left. Lehmann comes rushing out and gets nowhere near it - and the unmarked Olisadebe gets there first...

  • 80'

Gonzalez is smart to see Basinas in space on the edge of the D, his first touch is not the best which forces him to rush the shot - and put it well over

  • 79'

Epalle gets it all wrong when trying the reverse pass - Lehmann collects, staying inside his area this time

  • 78'

Vyntra is too strong for Reyes, who muscles him off the ball and takes it forward

  • 77'

Another change for the home side, Joel Epalle is on for Dumitru Mitu

  • 76'

Panathinaikos will have it all to do again now, surely Arsenal will not throw it away again for a second time

  • 75'

Fine goal from Arsenal, picking up on the error and turning the play in a second. Cole looked up and played a great ball along the deck to find Henry in a central position - who had only to sidefoot home. 2-1 to the Gunners

  • 74'

    GOAL!!!

  • 74'

Basinas gives it away and Arsenal break with great pace, Cole finds himself clear on the left flank with the chance to look up and spot the run of Henry...

  • 73'

Not much has changed for Arsenal, they still can't create and play with the same fluency we see week-in week-out in England

  • 72'

Cole does very well to hold off Mitu inside the area and win the goal kick

  • 71'

Edu and Fabregas stand over it, surely there will be a shot from this position. Fabregas steps over it for Edu to strike - and it's always going over

  • 70'

Ljungberg is brought down just yards outside the box to the right-hand side, foul by Goumas and a real chance for the Gunners

  • 69'

Skacel twists and turns on the left - one time too many with Lauren left on the deck - and can only cross into the grasp of Lehmann

  • 68'

Henry picks it up on the right and tries to find Pires across the face of the six-yard box - Chalkias is smartly out to intercept

  • 67'

Trouble for Arsenal now. They have created almost nothing in the entire game and they must now pick themselves up and look for a second - and Panathinaikos will have their tails up

  • 66'

Another error in Europe by Lehmann. He didn't need to come out, his header was picked up by Gonzalez on the right touchline and he produced an outstanding first-time looping effort to fire the ball back over Lehmann. David Seaman would be proud

  • 65'

    GOAL!!!!!

  • 64'

Gonzalez beats Cole to the ball and hammers it towards goal first time...

  • 63'

Olisadebe chases a loose ball and Lehmann rushes out to head clear of his box

  • 62'

The first substitution comes from Panathinaikos as Emmanuel Olisadebe replaces Michalis Konstantinou

  • 61'

It's still a very frustrating game, very little in the way of real goalmouth action and very stop start with all the fouls - especially with the hard tackling of the Greek side

  • 60'

Arseal switch off while arguing about the resulting throw. It went to the hosts and Mitu is allowed space on the edge of the mox - but his arrowed effort goes wide

  • 59'

Basinas finds Vyntra on the right with a lovely raknig ball - and Cole has to be sharp to close him down and make the tackle

  • 58'

Edu produces a fine challenge just as Gonzalez was about to pull the trigger from the edge of the D

  • 57'

Corner to the home side. Basinas's delivery from the right is headed away with ease by Pires

  • 56'

Ljungberg leans into Goumas inside the area and the decision goes against him, free-kick to Panathinaikos

  • 55'

Great play from Arsenal as it's spread across the pitch before ending up at the feet of Pires in the box, he looks for Henry and Ljungberg but is blocked off

  • 54'

Reyes comes forward and goes down far too easily up against Basinas. He gets himself to his feet and cruelly hacks the Greece international to the turf - and gets a ticking off

  • 53'

Panathinaikos are very much on top now, Arsenal playing on the back foot

  • 52'

Lehmann's kick is very poor and Reyes has to mop up in the corner

  • 51'

Gonzalez tries from from 20 yards out, it's a tame effort and easy for Lehmann to collect to his right

  • 50'

Basinas almost finds space on the edge of the box - the tackle for Edu is a good one and it's clear

  • 49'

Skacel breaks into the both in between Toure and Lauren and goes down in a heap - no penalty as the referee waves away the protests

  • 48'

The hosts showing some real desire at the start of the second 45, eager to find parity

  • 47'

Skacel fouls Lauren and it's a free-kick straight away

  • 46'

Arsenal begin the second period with Pires and Henry

  • 45'

The goal from Ljungberg was typically Arsenal, but very little from the rest of the performance was. They will have to create more in the second period to hammer home the advantage and secure the points

  • 45'

    And that's half-time

  • 45'

Cesc fells Skacel and Basinas will weigh this one up from 25 yards out. His bending effort lands on the top of the net with Lehmann stretching - close one

  • 45'

Two minutes to be added on in the first half

  • 44'

Approaching half-time and Arsenal still have just one shot to show for their efforts

  • 43'

Toure thwarts Konstantinidis with a superb frim tackle, great work. Konstantinidis isn't happy but he'll have to run off the knock

  • 42'

Cole races up in support, Henry's ball is poor and is won by Vyntra - who is then brought down by the England left-back

  • 41'

Vyntra drags back Reyes - free-kick again

  • 40'

Skacelfinds Konstantinou into the area, good work from Toure to intercept after the Greek player produced a classy fresh air shot

  • 39'

Now Lauren is taken out late by Skacel, Ljungberg is far from happy and the two exchange words

  • 38'

Konstantinou is all over Toure as it's pumped forward and the whistle soon goes for the foul

  • 37'

The free-kick is floated in by Basinas and Kirgiakos rises well to head goalwards - and inches wide to Lehmann's right

  • 36'

Mitu goes down, and Mitu gets the decision. Free-kick on the right flank and a chance to cause some trouble

  • 35'

Arsenal are happy to pass it around inside their own half - enthralling stuff

  • 34'

It's a poor game really, with the home side reduced to long-range efforts and Arsenal failing to create anything bar the solitary shot which provided the lead

  • 33'

Pires brings down Gonzalez and that will be a free-kick

  • 32'

Campbell heads clear from the back majestically, Pires flicks it on - there's no-one up and Chalkias comes out of his area to collect

  • 31'

Gonzalez's pass to the left for Skacel is poor, too strong, and Arsenal claim the throw

  • 30'

Basinas tries his luck from distance for a second time, but this time sees his effort dip just over the bar

  • 29'

Edu looks for Lauren on the right - he's not up in support and Panathinaikos take possession

  • 28'

Pires finds space and bursts down the right, Kirgiakos keep pace and makes the tackle before the cross can come in

  • 27'

Arsenal in command now, again without really being able to break down a resolute defence - for a second time

  • 26'

Henry looks for the head of Pires, it's too high and then Pires fells Kirgiakos in chasing for the ball

  • 25'

Goumas catches Pires very late from behind and is lucky to escape a caution

  • 24'

The game has certainly gone a little flat now, the atomsphere dampened by the away goal and spirits on the pitch deflated

  • 23'

Konstantinidis gets it on the right and delivers into the heart of the penalty area, Gonzalez is up in support again and his glancing header drifts a yard wide

  • 23'

Morris tries to put Gonzalez in but it's a poor ball

  • 22'

Henry's ball down the line is way too strong for Cole and it goes out for a throw

  • 21'

The goal has deflated Panathinaikos - they were in charge of the game but fell asleep with Ljungberg in the area - which you do at your peril

  • 20'

One shot and one goal for the Gunners - can they now build on that? It's time for the 'Premiership Arsenal' to show up

  • 19'

Superb ball from Reyes with the outside of his left boot, Ljungberg was left free and he produced a deft flick to take the ball over Chalkias and into the back of the net

  • 18'

    GOAL!!!!!

  • 18'

It comes to Reyes inside the D. He holds it up well looking for options and dinks it through to Ljungberg - he's through

  • 17'

Henry gets into the box and tries to fire a shot off, but Morris slides in to make the block

  • 16'

Arsenal have not had sight of the Greek goal yet, Panathinaikos playing well right now

  • 15'

Lehmann is forced to fist away a blistering, swerving effort from Basinas - well worked move and the German stopper had to be alert

  • 14'

Edu picks out Henry with a fine ball, he looks to burst to the byline but Goumas is wise to it and comes to clean up

  • 13'

Reyes comes back into the action, looking to run off the knock

  • 12'

Edu fells Konstantinou, free-kick to Panathinaikos

  • 11'

Reyes is down again after twisting his studs in the turf - and this time he will need treatment from Gary Lewin

  • 10'

Reyes shows great feet, but Pires is not on the same wavelength - who changes his run just as Reyes released the pass

  • 9'

Reyes is hacked down by Vyntra. The Spaniard is down and in some pain but rejects treatment

  • 8'

Edu finds Henry who turns sharply and looks for the run of Pires - there's just too much on what was almost a perfect pass, goal kick

  • 7'

The Greek side are very much on top, enjoying possession and troubling the Gunners

  • 6'

The corner comes in from the right, but Campbell rises highest to clear

  • 5'

Great run by Konstantinou, he gets past Cole and reaches the byline before cuttin it back - and Campbell has to make a vital interception to prevent a certain goal

  • 4'

It's thrown back in quickly, and Basinas strides forward before dragging a shot from outside the box just wide

  • 3'

Konstantinidis forces Toure into a rushed clearance, throw in

  • 2'

Arsenal begin on top, knocking the ball around without any real impact

  • 1'
